For the second year in a row, I made a Zip Zip Hooray pouch in December! My mom saw me using my pouch during our summer trip to North Carolina, and said “ooh, I’d like one of those”…so it was an easy decision to make her one for Christmas.
This pattern is by my friend Tina Curtis and comes together pretty quickly. I made this one in less than 3 hours from start to finish!

For this one, I chose an old print from my stash, and added a bit of solid blue at the bottom. I chose a pale pink-purple Aurifil 50 wt thread to quilt the exterior panels to the fusible foam and construct the rest of the bag. I had bought a package of white zipper-by-the-yard for the Split pouch I made earlier in the month, and was able to use more of that white zipper tape for this project as well.
For the inside, I used an old Sarah Jane/Michael Miller print. I bought yardage of this print years ago with the intention of making pajama pants, but that never happened. I pulled it out of my stash recently to use as backing for a baby quilt, and had enough left over to use here as the lining.

This was my last finish of 2023, and I gave the pouch to my mom when she got here last week for a visit. She loved it!
Looks great and I’m sure it will be a well used gift!
