Whew! It’s been a while since I did one of these posts (the last was…January?) and while I’ve been good about posting finished projects, I enjoy these “work in progress” round-ups. They’re fun for me to look back on (so many fun memories in these posts!) and hopefully fun for others to see as well.
I’m in the middle of quite a few projects right now — I slightly overcommitted myself, and the only thing to do is press forward. I have done this before and certainly will again. It’s kinda how I roll, for better or for worse. Fortunately, I am enjoying myself!
The biggest news is that I wrapped up my 100 Day project on July 15! Or maybe I should say that I wrapped up my first 100 days?? Because the project isn’t done — I’m still going! I had 151 people on my list and there are still many ideas in my head so I’ll be making postcards through August and September, with the goal of finishing all of them 151 by October 1.
I took a week off from postcard-making after the 100th day, then jumped back in. It is nice to have relief from the “make one every day” schedule, but I’m still planning on 5-6 per week. I’m up to 106 so far…
I’ve also been doing some plotting for several upcoming projects. As an Aurifil Artisan this year, I’ll be participating in several monthly challenges and sharing alllll their pretty threads along the way. The August challenge is embroidery or cross stitch with either Aurifloss or 12 wt thread. I’ve never used Aurifloss before and am excited to try it! These pretty spools arrived a couple days ago and I’ll be starting on that project soon. I don’t want to give it all away, but will share some progress photos along the way!
My plan was to alternate challenge months. But then I saw that the September Artisan challenge is to make a wholecloth quilt — another thing that I have never done and can’t resist trying! I have an idea based on the wrought irons gates I admired in Charleston a year and a half ago. I wasn’t sure how feasible it would be, so I did a little test for fun. It wasn’t perfect but still came out much better than I expected and gave me confidence that I can turn my idea into reality. So with fingers crossed, I’ll be sharing this project in a couple months.
In the last couple weeks I also finished a quilt top to test my friend Bobbie’s upcoming Velocity Quilt pattern. The photo above is just a sneak peek, but I’ll share more when she gets closer to releasing the pattern. It’s a good one, designed specifically for ombre fabrics! I’m anxious to get this one quilted and finished, but that will need to wait for at least a few weeks.
No photo to go with this one, but last night during a Zoom chat with quilty friends, I made an improv pieced square to use for practicing some kantha stitching. This was the June project from the Alison Glass Stitch Club — which I joined but haven’t been able to stitch yet!! Now that I have this square prepped, I looked forward to stitching away during this week’s round of work telecons.
And there’s one more project in work that I can’t fully reveal yet — I’ve designed a 6″ block to represent Texas as part of the upcoming Around the Block US Tour. This fun tour kicks off August 2, and will continue with 1 new FREE block pattern every week for all 50 states plus Puerto Rico! I’m Week 6, so my Texas block will be released on September 6!
Despite all these projects in work, I still have SO many ideas for other things to make. Such is life!

I signed up for the block of the week states. Looking forward to it. I’m from Louisiana.

Awesome! I think Louisiana is towards the end so it might be next spring or early summer — eek — but we’ll get there. 🙂
