I really enjoy setting quarterly goals so I’m definitely sticking with it for 2019. It’s long enough to give me flexibility in how and when I do things, but short enough to wrap my head around. Win-win!
First, a wrap-up of my goals from the last quarter of 2018:
- Finish #100days100blocks2018 (aka Tula Pink’s City Sampler) blocks. Done!
- Finish my Rainbow Triangles BOM quilt top. Almost done. I did the October and November installments but December was so full of other activities that I haven’t had a chance to finish up the top.
- QuiltCon fabric challenge entry. Done! And it was juried into QuiltCon!
- Teach my first quilting class(es). Done! I taught one class, and was scheduled to teach a second but it was cancelled due to low enrollment. We’re planning to try again now that the holidays are past.
- Secret sewing project. Not done. I had planned to make the sample for an upcoming Craftsy/Bluprint pattern release. But the fabric shipment ended up being delayed. I knew I’d be hard-pressed to get it done on short turnaround in December, so I opted to have them reassign the sample-making to another quilter.
- Also done:
- Pieced several blocks and a good portion of our GCMQG charity quilt top.
- Enjoyed Quilt Market and Quilt Festival.
- Drafted and made an Astros quilt block.
- Made hexie coasters.
- Tech editing and graphic design work for clients.
Here’s what I’m planning for January-March:
- Get Spring Training and our GCMQG charity quilt prepped and shipped to QuiltCon. I made the hanging sleeve and sewed down the top edge yesterday. Just need to finish stitching the other edges, add a label, and get it on its way. The deadline for the charity quilts is a couple weeks later (since they are not judged), and that quilt still needs binding, a label, and a hanging sleeve.
- Participate in the MQG Mini Quilt Swap. I’ll be swapping with my partner in person at QuiltCon. I have a few ideas for what to make, so I just need to pick one and get started!
- Write 1 new quilt pattern. I have a few ideas, but first on the list is a pattern for Spring Training. (Although I feel like I may need to give the pattern a different name that’s less obtuse. Any suggestions?)
- Finish my Rainbow Triangles BOM quilt. This will be the first of the four big UFOs that I hope to complete this year. I mentioned above that I only need to do the December installment to complete the top, and once that’s done I’m going to rent some longarm time to quilt it.
- Make progress on my Pollinate quilt. I got some stitching done on this long-term English paper piecing project with me to Charlotte (see photo above). I’d really like to keep momentum here, even if it’s only a few pieces per week.
- Participate in a blog hop. More to come on this one.
With these goals in mind, I think 2019 is off to a great start!
