I haven’t done one of these posts since (…checking…) July. Wow! Obviously I’ve been sewing that whole time, but it’s always fun to do these occasional wrap-ups of what’s going on in my sewing room.
The past couple months have been filled up with a lot of different projects — this bag, our guild charity quilt, this Astros block and more. Since finishing my last QuiltCon entry at the end of November, there hasn’t been much happening. I had intentions of getting some quality sewing time over the last 5 days of holiday break, but with all the other activities going on that didn’t happen.
Here’s what HAS gotten done, complete with very non-Instagram worthy photos:
I took last Friday off since all my work activities had already wound down, and that was the one day I did have for some sewing. I started the day making binding for our Gulf Coast MQG charity quilt (which is still with the quilter), and then spent a couple hours making PJ pants for Jose.
He originally asked for these back in the summer. I didn’t buy enough fabric the first time, so had to make a return trip, and then they got buried behind other projects. But they worked wonderfully as a Christmas gift! Ha!
I had hoped to get the label and hanging sleeve done for Spring Training by now, but that hasn’t happened yet. Good thing I’ve still got a few weeks before it needs to be shipped for QuiltCon!
And while this doesn’t count as sewing exactly, I did make a few quilt-related decor updates thanks to Jose. I had mentioned wanting a quilt ladder as a possible Christmas gift and he ended up getting me not one but two quilt display pieces!
The first is a cool distressed ladder that fit perfectly in the corner of my quilt room. I quickly loaded it up — I haven’t written about the top quilt yet (it’s an update to my Broken Zig Zag pattern), but the others are L Is For…, 100 Days of Saroy Scraps and Intertwined.
The second is a more traditional quilt/blanket rack. For now, it fits right next to the stairs but I’m not sure this will be the permanent location — I think there may be a better option in the study if I move a couple things around. This rack is easier to get the quilts on and off, so I plan to fill it up with quilts that are ready to be snuggled! (Although neither of the quilts in the photo below — Spring Training plus an antique quilt that may have been made by my great-grandmother — are for snuggling just yet.)
I’ll be back in a couple days with a round-up of all my sewing in 2018!
p.s. I’m doing a 31 day blog writing challenge!
