First — a quick wrap-up of the crafty goals I had for fall:
- Halloween costumes for the girls. Done!
- Finish Charlotte’s stocking. Done!
- Make myself a Range backpack. Done!
- Barn Quilt Block of the Month. Done!
- Gypsy Wife Sew-Along. Done!
- Also done:
- Wrapped up work with a client to get her patterns print-ready for Quilt Market
- Went to Quilt Market and Quilt Festival
- Finished my throw-size Intertwined quilt
- Made a quilt for the MQG Michael Miller fabric challenge (and it was accepted into QuiltCon!)
Wow! I guess part of the reason fall felt so hectic is all the sewing I was doing, eh?
I’ve already laid out my thoughts on broader crafty goals for 2018, but it’s time to address things in a little more detail for January-March. This winter, I’m planning to:
- Get L is For… and Backyard Chatter prepped and sent off to QuiltCon. This is obviously less of a “goal” and more of an “absolutely will and must happen,” and in the next week. So if you’re looking for me in the evening for the next several days, I’ll be sewing hanging sleeves and labels onto these two!
- Participate in the MQG swap. I’ll be swapping in person — fun! — so the deadline for me is my flight to Los Angeles. I have several ideas, and need to pick one and get started. This will be next on my list once my QuiltCon pieces are on their way.
- Make a baby quilt. Simple enough, but since baby is already here I don’t want to drag this one out too long. I don’t even know what fabrics or pattern I’m going to use, but I have a lot in my stash at the moment including several bundles from Quilt Market, so one of those should work perfectly.
- Finish my Gypsy Wife quilt. I love it too much to leave it in limbo as only a quilt top for very long! I’m going to make a simple pieced backing using some of the leftover fabric I have from the front, and then getting it basted will be simple enough. Hopefully by the time I get that done, I’ll have an inkling of how I want to quilt it.
- Turn my barn quilt blocks into a finished quilt top. As a bonus, take them all the way to a finished quilt — but if I can just have a top by the end of March I’ll consider that a success as well.
