Christmas Eve is here! We have lunch plans with friends, and plan to take it easy the rest of the day. Tonight we’ll have tamales for dinner — a new tradition (for me, at least, but not for Jose) that we started last year.
I don’t have much to chat about today but certainly can’t drop the ball on my month-long blogging challenge now, so I thought I’d share some fun Christmas quilts that I’ve come across this month. Making a holiday-themed quilt seems to be a bit of a thing — Christmas, Halloween, even Valentines Day — but I’ve never made one myself! The idea of having something special to pull out each season sounds pretty fun though, so maybe I’ll have to whip up one for my family at some point.
Kitty Wilkin just released a Christmas version of her Constant Flux pattern that looks like a wreath!
When I started making my Gypsy Wife quilt, I joined a Facebook group based solely on that pattern. Each month they feature a different version of the quilt as the group’s main header photo, and this month it was this beautiful version called “Visions of Sugarplums” by Jeanne Arnieri. Any quilt can be Christmasy with the right color choice!
I spotted several of these really cute lights-themed pieces in the Sew Kind of Wonderful booth at Quilt Market a couple months ago.
There are also plenty of Christmasy quilts in the late Sue Garman’s collection, and I saw a few of these at Quilt Festival.
I’ve seen a lot of people use Amy Smart’s simple and sweet Modern Christmas Tree block pattern with great results. If I do ever make a holiday quilt, it might have to be this one! (This would also make a lovely quilt for year-round use if you chose pretty much any other color scheme.)
Last but not least, I saw this Lego Santa block by Katie Larson in my Instagram feed last week and LOVED it — I totally have a Lego Santa exactly like this hanging on my Christmas tree! My mom got one for each of my siblings and me years and years ago, and turned them into ornaments by adding a ribbon. Katie listed the pattern in her Craftsy shop for free.
Wishing you all a lovely Christmas Eve!
p.s. I’m doing a 31 day blog writing challenge!

Thanks Kitty! If I’d had time, I totally would have whipped up a “wreath” for my house this year. Can you believe I don’t have any quilted holiday decor? Will have to fix that sometime soon…
