Loving // Emma as a doting big sister. Yesterday she wanted to help brush Charlotte’s hair before school pictures. Cue ALL the heart eyes here.
Wanting // Someone to explain LinkedIn to me. I’ve never really used it, other than to fill out a profile. Then again, I also haven’t been job hunting basically ever since I started working for NASA in college. Anyway, in the past month or so I’ve noticed an uptick in my contact requests. It’s not huge — going from a couple each month to a couple each week — but still. Should I be using LinkedIn for something? I updated my profile yesterday for the first time in a while, but I still don’t know why.
Wishing // That Charlotte could just get healthy already. She’s been congested and coughing for basically 6 weeks straight. We’ve been through 2 rounds of antibiotics for ear infections. And last night green gunk started coming out of her nose. AGAIN. Booooo.
Thinking // About making a Quilt of Valor someday after listening to the latest episode of Quilt Your Heart Out, which featured the executive director of that organization. She read a truly amazing thank you note from one of their quilt recipients and it made me want to participate. Maybe it’s an item for my bucket list? I feel like my quilting skills, while pretty good, would need to be even better to make something like this.
Searching // For a new camera purse, after noticing that the faux leather on my old bag has begun to peel away and flake badly. I browsed Kelly Moore, Epiphanie and Jo Totes and they’ve got some fantastic bags but whew are they pricey! I’m willing to consider spending that much to get a real leather bag that would last. But it might make more sense to go cheaper since I don’t use a camera purse all the time.

LinkedIn: I absolutely hate it. For me, even as a business owner, no use whatsoever – but their invitation emails / email notifications in general were a pain to deal with. Cancelling emails was a pain. Deleting the account was a pain. I still get the inevitable random invitation emails, but simply don’t follow up. Not sure if this helps, but it sure helped to rant 😉

My requests have ticked up too this month, mostly from people I don’t know. If I was looking for a new job, it would probably be useful, but for now it is merely something that I maintain like a resume.

I use LinkedIn a little, mostly because everyone at my company has been trying to use it as we do consulting for O&G and O&G is sucking right now so they are trying to hustle. I get a lot of random requests, usually I add them because they are connected to someone at my office, but I do decline a lot, too.
It’s a clunky application.
