Planning // To run next year’s Houston Half Marathon. I signed up this week so if all goes well, I’ll finally make my return to my hometown event on January 15, 2017! I ran it every year from 2004-2011 and can’t believe I’ve missed the last FIVE races. There have been reasons — some good, like pregnancy, and some bad, like injury — but I miss being a part of the big weekend hoopla.
Standing // At my crazy standing desk contraption at work. It’s a Varidesk, and you can move it up and down to sit or stand as you please. I actually got it months ago, but never set it up before I went on maternity leave. One of my coworkers set hers up, and that finally inspired me to take action. So far I’ve been standing for short periods of time — like 20 minute periods, maybe? — before sitting down for a while. I’m curious to see whether standing is something I’ll enjoy or whether it’s a fad that I’ll lose interest in after a few weeks or months.
Hoping // That Charlotte stays healthy through the weekend. She’s had a runny nose the past couple mornings but so far it doesn’t seem to be anything worse. This is the end of her third week at daycare, so I guess we’re due for her first illness but UGH. I have not been looking forward to the year of crud that comes along with babies building their immune systems.
Celebrating // With Jose’s family this weekend. One of his cousins is getting married, so it will be a fun event for everyone! Our drive to and from Corpus Christi in December went really well, so I’m crossing all my fingers and toes for a repeat.

I have a standing desk that I kinda sorta use. I’ve also lowered all the way down and sat on the floor, which is kind of fun! 🙂 I probably need to stand more often.

Oh interesting! Mine is a contraption that sits on top of my existing desk, so it can’t go to floor level. It’d be pretty funny to see the reactions of my officemates if it did though…
