Enjoying // Several fun holiday things! Last weekend Jose and I put Christmas lights up on the house for the first time in 4 years (i.e. the first time we’ve managed to do it with children) and we took Emma to pick out a Christmas tree. Yesterday I joined Emma and her classmates on a field trip to Holiday Acres. It was 80 degrees outside. The above photo is how we do “sledding” in Texas. Yee haw, y’all!
Planning // Another December weekend. Last Saturday night we (Jose, his mom, me, and both girls) went to Zoo Lights and while it was pretty, it was also just crazy, ridiculously crowded. Taking Charlotte was…not the smartest idea I’ve ever had. I’m now scared to try any of the other big area attractions. However, we might try the Dickinson Festival of Lights. It’s a smaller one that we visited two years ago, and it was nice.
Feeling // Utterly exhausted. I’m back at work. And I’m trying to catch up on what I missed. Plus I’m trying to navigate the waters of my new role as group lead. Plus it’s the always hectic holiday season. If I’m feeling this spent with the help of grandparents (Jose’s mom was here all last week; my mom arrived on Tuesday)…I’m starting to get pretty overwhelmed thinking about what happens in January when the grandparents have all gone home.

I really want to go to zoo lights with the kids, but so far the inconvenience has stopped me. It’s always past their bedtime, and the nearest zoo lights are 45 minutes away at least. I think it’s not going to happen any time soon.
I’m sure the job will get easier as you settle in, and hopefully that’ll reduce your overall stress / work level.

After we did zoo lights 2 or 3 years ago I swore never again. 🙂

The Moody gardens one is not as bad.
