We had a really excellent weekend. There’s something about spending time with family and crisp fall weather that makes me very happy!
Jose’s cousin Peggy and her family stopped by for a quick visit on Friday night. They got here later than planned due to a flat tire, but still made it and it’s always fun to share the house with visitors. We all got up on Saturday morning and had breakfast at The Egg and I, which was delicious as usual.
We had planned to head to Armand Bayou for their annual fall farm festival, but their car tire was still losing air so we took them to a tire shop. Everything was finally squared away around noon, and since they had to leave at 1:30 we decided to head to Kemah instead! That turned out to be a great decision as we all had fun playing games and enjoying rides in the glorious sunny-but-cool weather.
Of course I can’t forget about Charlotte, who was an amazingly agreeable little trooper throughout all our activity. It’s interesting and funny to see how much we do with Charlotte that we never would have done with baby Emma. Of course part of it is that we don’t want to put everything on hold for Emma just because we have a new baby. But Jose and I are definitely more confident parents than we were three years ago. Taking our baby out and about just doesn’t seem as intimidating as it did with Emma.
To cap things off, I took Emma to Disney on Ice yesterday afternoon. Show time was 1:30, which is just a really bad time for a kid who still naps. We left the house at noon and I hoped she would fall asleep in the car, but she didn’t. She loved the show — and especially all the princesses in the second half — but honestly I think she would have enjoyed it even more if she hadn’t been tired! Nonetheless, she told me several times as we left that “I had fun at that Disney show, Mommy.” Aww. (And then she slept the whole way home.)
Fun fun fun!

That picture of Charlotte is absolutely breathtaking.
