I continue to make slow but steady progress on my niece Elizabeth’s quilt. I’m trying not to give too much away so it can be a surprise for my sister, but I’m using a pattern from Vintage Quilt Revival. My mom is here this week (yay!) so I have high hopes of getting the top finished and the whole quilt basted. I’ve made 7 of the 10 blocks I need, so this should be doable.
On a whim, and inspired by the 1930’s Farmer’s Wife Quilt-a-long that just started and will continue for the next year, I made the first block in the series. They aren’t going in the order the blocks are presented in the book but rather starting with the easier blocks. This one only took me about 15 minutes and it was fun to have something come together so quickly! I think I’ll continue making Farmer’s Wife block as I have time. (Ha! “As I have time.” I made myself laugh.) Most people seem to be using prints or even 1930s-ish fabrics but I think I’ll try them all in solids.
And because my eyes are bigger than my quilting stomach, I ordered fabric this week to make my broken zig zag quilt. It hasn’t arrived yet and I’ve forbidden myself to cut into it until Elizabeth’s quilt is done, but it will be next on my list.

I like your interpretation of Farmer’s Wife Quilt. It’s so different that all the others and so modern. I wish you good luck in finding more time for sewing.
