Size of the Baby: 16 inches long and a bit over 3 pounds, aka the size of a coconut. (Mmm coconut.) She’s starting to add some fat! Go baby girl, go.
Weight gain/loss: Well, vacation last week definitely out me back “on track” in the weight gain department! I’m up 22-23 pounds overall.
Maternity clothes: Not technically maternity, but I am obsessed with my new Birkenstocks. I’m ridiculously excited that Birks seem to be “cool” again, and since I needed a new pair of summer sandals anyway…well, you know. I’ve had them for a month and wear them basically everywhere that’s not work. (And I did wear them to work once. Hey, it was a flex Friday!)
Sleep: I got a glorious 8+ hours of sleep every night on vacation…and then came home and reverted back to 6-7 hours. No bueno! (On the flip side though, I sleep much better in my own bed than I did in the hotel beds.)
Movement: Still often, and starting to get a little uncomfortable! On Wednesday, she spent the whole day shoving an arm or leg into the top of my stomach as if she was trying to “alien” her way right out.
Food cravings: Nothing in particular, especially after stuffing myself repeatedly in San Francisco…
Best moment this week? Vacation, obviously! It was great to relax, sleep, eat, sightsee and just hang out with Jose without the distraction of Emma and house stuff and work and everyday life. Who knows when we’ll get to do a kid-free trip again? (Next summer at the absolute earliest…)
What I miss: Being somewhat in shape, again. I had to give a presentation at work on Wednesday and felt out of breath while I was sitting there talking! Seriously, ugh!
What I’m looking forward to: Just like when I was 31 weeks with Emma, we’re heading to Corpus Christi this weekend — but this time it’s not for a baby shower, but rather for a quinceanera. This’ll probably be the last time we go until at least Thanksgiving if not later, so it’ll be nice to see Jose’s family.
Milestones: I’ve already mentioned Emma’s new furniture, which let us move the crib into the baby room. My mom helpfully took a bunch of stuff to Goodwill which helped as well. We’re nearly ready to paint. Plus, I decided to go with a loose “sea” theme for decor, so I can start looking for a few finishing touches. (Emma’s room has a very loose “sky” theme, so we’ll have sea and sky. Ha!)
And speaking of last time, I was a bit heartened to see that all we had in Emma’s room at this point was a bookcase! I’ve been feeling like we’re behind the curve on prep for this baby, but I guess we’re really not that far behind.
Oh! And I preregistered at the hospital, and I signed Emma up for the “super siblings” class. Go me!
