Enjoying // The echoes of our first “summer” weekend! We went to the pool for the first time this year on Saturday and Emma had a blast. We also walked to the playground yesterday morning and just about died in the heat. Yep. Summer is here.
Sewing // The first quilt I’ve ever made that could qualify as “improvisational” quilting. There is a slight structure to it, in the form of blocks of various sizes that fit together nicely to form a rectangle in the end. But each block is basically random. I sew strips together in groups of four, then pick them at random, cut curves on a whim, and stitch it all together. Once all the strips were cut and pieced into smaller groups, the larger blocks actually come together surprisingly quickly and it’s been fun to see this quilt start to take shape. (The pattern — much as a quilt with an improv component can have a pattern — is by Rachel of Stitched in Color.)
Intending // To force myself to go to bed a bit earlier this month. I’m totally fed up with being tired all the time, and being somewhat grumpy and short-tempered as a result.
Noticing // That ~6 years seems to be the lifetime of certain things in our house. In the last week, both the disposal and one of the light fixtures (the whole fixture, not just one bulb) in our master bathroom stopped working. Argh.

I love the quilt! How big is it? Is it a wall-hanging?

In the photo above, it’s ~40″ wide and ~32″ tall. The finished size is honestly going to depend on how far my stacks of strips take me, but I think it’ll end up being ~40 x 50″. It’s a baby quilt — but would work well as a wall hanging too!
