Eating // All the Thin Mints. Nom nom nom.
Wondering // Why our smoke detectors always choose to start annunciating “low battery” in the middle of the night. Jose and I were up at 1:45 in the morning a few nights ago fumbling around to change it which is no small feat. First, for reasons I don’t understand, if you try to change the battery while the AC power is still on, it sets off the alarm. Second, this particular smoke detector is near the top of the wall in the “vestibule” outside our bedroom, and the ceilings are 11-12 feet. So I was outside at 1:45 messing with our circuit breaker box while Jose was getting the ladder from the garage. Fun times.
Chanting // “Do not get sick. Do not get sick. Do not get sick.” I’ve had a minor sore throat and congestion for several days now and I CANNOT afford to be sick over the next few days. The past two nights I’ve gone to bed at 9:30, which seems to be helping keep anything more serious at bay.
Enjoying // Watching the Houston rodeo trail riders pass Emma’s daycare! They came through on Tuesday afternoon and all the kids dressed in their best western wear. (Emma wore her new cowboy boots too. How convenient that the boots she needs for Alex’s upcoming wedding are also appropriate for rodeo season!)
Working // On what would otherwise be a flex Friday for me, thanks to a mission management team meeting that I had to cover. That meeting ended about 20 minutes ago so I’m hanging out until one more meeting at 10:30 — but after that I’ll get to truly enjoy the rest of my flex day!
