Aside from the obvious — have a wonderful holiday season and all that entails — here’s what I hope to do this month! I’m taking several days off at the end of the month so there should be plenty of time for all of them.
Continue work on my Master’s project. My goal is to get at least 3.5 pieces finished by the end of the month, which take my total from 2.5 to 6. Three per month in January, February and March would bring me to 15 total. April will be spent compiling the narrative that has to accompany everything and submitting it to the UHCL library and the dean’s office. And in May: diploma time! I’ve got a very workable timeline, so as long as I stick to it I’ll be good!
See Christmas lights with Emma. She loves lights, so I’m pretty sure her head is going to explode with all the lights to see this month. I want to take her out in the stroller one night around our neighborhood, and we also plan to check out either Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo or the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens — or maybe both!
Get my craft stuff organized in a single area. Last year when I was on maternity leave, I ended up moving my sewing machine from the upstairs bonus room to the dining room table…and it has been there ever since. I’m not sure I’m quite ready to move it back upstairs yet, because 1) it’s nice to have it somewhere central because that way it’s actually possible (sometimes) to sew while Emma plays and 2) we don’t use our dining room for dining much, so while it’s a big of an eyesore it’s not actually affecting anything.
BUT as a side effect, I now have sewing and craft stuff strewn across several different rooms — bonus room, dining room, office, living room. When I go looking for something, I have to canvass practically the whole house. It makes the most sense to get everything organized back in the bonus room where it used to be, and keep only the materials for my current project downstairs in the dining room.
Get Emma’s baby book up to date. I kept up with it through ~6 months, but everything since then is just jotted down in an Evernote file. I need to print out several photos to update the monthly pages and stick a few other things in there. The book is pretty focused on the first year, so once I get it up to date there won’t be too much more maintenance required.
FINISH Emma’s stocking. So close! So close!
