Ah, October! I love October. And despite the fact that I’m on Day 2 of being furloughed from my job, I think it’s gonna be a good month.
Continue work on my Master’s project. You guys! I think I’m going to actually do it this time! I’ve done a good job so far of sticking with my Monday/Wednesday/Superflex Friday schedule and forcing myself to work. I don’t have anything to show for it yet other than a bunch of research and a few sketches, but that’s farther than I’ve ever gotten before.
Make this month’s Lucky Stars Block of the Month. This one’s for fun. I’ve been wanting to do some more paper piecing since making the Harry Potter taggie blanket back in the spring, so when I came across the Lucky Stars BOM it seemed like a great way to do that. It’s been going on all year, so I got all the previous months’ patterns at once. I’ll work on them bit by bit, but my goal is to get the October block done actually in October.
Make a Halloween costume for Emma. I’m not 100% set on what she’ll be, but I think we’re going to go with bumblebee. I wonder if she’ll be amenable to wearing antennae? I just hope I can do something that turns out as well as last year’s Piglet costume…
Read 1 book. I wanted to read 20 books this year and I was totally on track until the wheels fell off my reading train back in the summer. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but one big reason is that I no longer walk on the treadmill — if I get on it, I run instead. I can read while walking, but I can’t while running. (And I’m not sure audiobooks on the treadmill would do it for me.) But I miss reading, so I want to make time for at least 15-20 minutes of it before bed each night.
Clear the baby clutter off the counter. Emma hasn’t used bottles in a month, but I still have a drying rack on the counter overflowing with sippy cups and baby spoons. It’s time to clear out another shelf in our cabinets for her dining paraphernalia.
