Merry Christmas from cold (but not snowy) Corpus Christi! We’ve had a lovely day — lunch at a Chinese restaurant followed by a movie, and teaching Jose’s mom how to use email on her new computer. That was all after sleeping till noon, since Jose’s family does Christmas at midnight on Christmas Eve! I’ve never seen a pile of presents as huge as the one under (and around!) the tree at Dalia’s house.
At midnight, after all the kids sang loud enough for him to hear, Santa made an appearance! He and the kids handed out all of the presents — no small feat — and then there was a flurry of wrapping paper and bows as everyone opened them!
Jose gave me a Kindle! It is awesome. I also got Donkey Kong Returns for my Wii from Alex, Bakerella’s Cake Pops book from my mother in law, and some gift cards and jewelry from each of the other families.
It was my first Christmas in all my 32 years that I wasn’t in Charlotte, but I wasn’t too sad. Christmas in Corpus is different but just as fun. And I have it on good authority that there is a lot of fun still to be had in Charlotte when we get there in a few days!
Merry Christmas to all of you from Jose and me!
