What did you eat this year that you will never forget? What went into your mouth & touched your soul?
The first thing I thought of was this amazing egg toast with black truffle that Jose and I had as an appetizer at Dolce Vita, a restaurant in Montrose. YUM.
But the thing I ate that would qualify in the “soul-touching” category is much more simple. A lot of the guys in Jose’s family LOVE to fish, so they scheduled some outings during the week we were on vacation at the beach in Florida. His cousin Mandy caught a huge red snapper one afternoon and that night Ami fried it up for dinner.
I’m not really a huge fan of fried white fish and it looked pretty underwhelming. I wasn’t going to have any, but figured I could at least try it. And WOW. It was melt-in-your-mouth DELICIOUS — the perfect mix of flakiness, fried bits, and flavor. I can’t recall ever having eaten fish that fresh before, and I had no idea what I was missing.

This month, I’m participating in Reverb10, which charges you to “reflect on your year and manifest what’s next.” There’s a different prompt every day.
