On Friday night I finished up this reindeer mini quilt for my partner in the Quiet Play Swap. Kristy has a ton of paper piecing patterns available, including the geometric sewing machine that I made earlier this year for another swap. (In fact, I made it a second time after the first one got stolen from the mailbox.)
My partner gave me several patterns to choose from, including the sewing machine, but I decided to go with one of her other suggestions and make this festive reindeer — which she’ll hopefully be able to use as a holiday decoration! The block finished at 12 inches, but I added the improvised border and the finished mini is just under 15″ square.
I put this one together entirely from my stash. There’s some Alison Glass in there, along with several solids. The arrow print is from the baby quilt I made a few months ago, and the other patterns are from a fat quarter bundle I bought on Massdrop a while back. The backing was from that same Massdrop bundle — the green leaves and red berries were totally perfect for the holiday theme. The binding is Cotton & Steel left over from my USA pillow.
I’ll be mailing this one off to its new home in a couple weeks and can’t wait to see what someone makes for me!

The scrappy binding works so well with the patchwork reindeer. I hope this one makes it to its owner safely and is enjoyed!
