Want to create an original quilt design, but don’t know where to start? Have a sketch but can’t figure out how to make it reality?
In our 3-hour workshop, we will discuss:
- Sources of inspiration and how to translate them into modern quilt designs
- Different construction methods and techniques
- Basic quilt math concepts such as how to estimate required fabric yardage
This workshop will be a working session — please come should come prepared with inspiration photos, sketches, and questions to discuss with the instructor and fellow classmates! We will work as a class, and also in smaller groups.
Each person tends to work a bit differently, but generally you will need inspiration photo(s), supplies to sketch designs (on paper or digitally), and the capability to do basic quilt math. Based on your own preferences, you may choose to bring:
- Inspiration photos/sketches (these can be printed or stored on your phone/tablet)
- Notebook or pad of paper (plain printer paper or graph paper as you prefer)
- Pencil or pen (or whatever writing instrument you prefer)
- Calculator (the app on your phone is perfect)
- iPad or tablet with:
- Drawing/sketching app such as Procreate*
- Spreadsheet app such as Google sheets*
*Note: You should already know how to use any drawing/sketching or math apps. I will not be able to teach you how to use various apps.
