For a self-proclaimed “not really a big shopper,” I sure did come home from QuiltCon with some fun stuff. 😁

- Embroidery and punch needle kits for trying new things.
- Art and tattoos and a pin for decorating my home and body.
- Patterns that I edited, a new thread-burying needle, and planets and axolotl fabric scraps are all fun gifts I received.
- The rest of the space/star fabric…well, do you know me at all?? 😆

Seven more quilts I loved at #QuiltCon2026, again with a few words about why…

Neon Quilts #2 (Strawberry) by @stitchmodequilts - It’s hard to make fabric look like it’s glowing, but this quilt pulls it off beautifully. The accent stitches are fabulous.

Elemental by @patticoppockbucklin - As the winner of the Piecing category, I immediately wanted to look at how the heck this was constructed, because the scatter of objects is so well done. The contrast between angular objects and the large ring is really nice too.

Fray It Ain’t So by @norstar_german - Another “how did they do that??” quilt, and it’s fun to see someone play with the two different colored threads in each Artisan Cotton shade. She turned 6 fabrics into so many different colors!

Shake It Up by @tania_tanti_artist - The combo of dense machine + hand quilting stitches drew me in to this one. So much delicious texture to admire.

ABUELA by Janine Holzman - The traditional red & white palette, the pick-up-sticks feeling…and I liked that even before I saw the text. Once I saw “abuela” I loved it even more.

Pink Oscillation by @samsaturday - Again, I always love a star, but the layered look is so visually interesting, and the color choices so good here. It truly does oscillate.

Ghost Castle by Ferris Tashey (age 4) - The colors are happy and that bit hanging off the bottom is so satisfyingly haphazard. I also loved reading how mom took a 4-year-old’s vision and made it reality.

Seven quilts I loved at #QuiltCon2026, and a few words about why (inspired by @rjbosscher’s design tour and encouragement to go beyond “I just like it”)…

The Sun the Moon and the Stars by Carol Hill - The bright colors, the contrast, the heavy outlines, the shine! Also I love star quilts forever and ever amen.

Artificial Truth by @plasticandpearls.art - So visually interesting with the text and high contrast black/white, and the background is made from plastic bags/unconventional materials.

JUSTICE by @kmcconaughy - The quote and neon color palette are wonderful, and the use of hand stitching and pleated fabrics to make the letterforms was stunning.

Kangetsu - Winter Moon by @scsarchet - I felt calmer just looking at this one, and admire the lovely hand stitching that works so well with the soft gradient background.

Stars: I Love You JWST by @rjbosscher - Stars again, obviously. But Bob’s use of different black/dark fabrics and those delicate yellow lines really draw me in.

11.5% Emily by @emwilliamsfiber - I stopped to admire the interesting use of colors and textures on the circles and backgrounds, and was sold when I saw its data interpretation on the names of their guild members!

Hallucinations by Lila Briggs (age 9) - Goodness, what’s not to like in the youth quilt category? This one vibrates and I can feel Socks’ Skittles-driven hallucinations in my bones.
