In addition to quilt patterns, I also have a couple quilted-inspired cross stitch patterns in my shop! I launched these pretty quietly in late 2023 via my email newsletter and have been meaning to put together a blog post about them ever since. Better late than never, eh?
(As a companion to this post, I’ve got a “Cross Stitch 101” post coming on Monday!)
I learned to cross stitch from my grandmother when I was young, and have enjoyed it on and off over the years. Many of my quilt designs translate very well into modern cross stitch pieces, and it’s been fun to play with favorite designs in a new medium. Both Game Night and Pathfinder are based on the throw-sized version of those quilts.

Game Night is based on a 4-color palette; the pattern includes 3 different options, but of course you can have fun selecting your own favorite shades. I stitched my version on 18-count white Aida cloth and it fits perfectly into the 8″ x 10″ frame shown in the picture at the top of this post. Pathfinder uses 16 different colors so there’s a lot of room to play. I recently started stitching this design, again on 18-count Aida, which will make it around 5.5″ square.
To help me design these patterns, I used a program called MacStitch, which has a feature that creates a digital mockup of the pattern. I had fun playing with those to make the styled images below!
