I first shared this Quarter Moon quilt back in April, and I’m thrilled to tell you that the pattern is finally here!

Quarter Moon is a stunning quilt that uses color and value gradients to great effect. There are 3 size options — baby, throw, and twin — and 2 fabric options. The first is a gradient option using multiple fabrics like mine, but there’s also a lovely four-color version you’ll enjoy if you want to keep things a little simpler.

The fabric requirements for the gradient option are a little more involved than usual, simply because of how the different fabrics are arranged and where each value is used to create the gradient effect. You’ll need 14 fabrics for the baby size quilt, or 19 fabrics for the throw or twin size quilt. In each case, your selection should run the full value range from light to dark. (I made my throw-size version with a set of 19 half-yard fabric cuts from Karen Nyberg’s upcoming Earth Views – Oceans fabric collection.)

I’ve listed the skill level as intermediate for this pattern, primarily because you will have to work with bias edges as you construct your quilt. But don’t stress — there’s trimming allowance included to make sure your blocks end up perfectly sized!

Gorgeous!!
Stunning design and impressive quilting that can actually be done on a home sewing machine. Well done, again!
