I recently collaborated with Spoonflower to make a set of quilted holiday ornaments! Today I’m sharing all seven PLUS you can grab a free pattern for the one in the middle — that cute little pillowy 5-point star. (And psst, if you’re already on my email list, the free pattern is in your inbox!)
I had free rein to choose whatever fabrics I wanted, which was a lot of fun! After browsing soooo many holiday fabrics, I finally settled on several prints by Erin Kendall. I chose twelve that I thought would give me a good balance of colors and patterns, and had them printed using Spoonflower’s “Fill-A-Yard” option. This was really easy! I received 2 yards of fabric that had been printed with an equal amount of each fabric motif. (They weren’t fat quarters, since there were 6 prints per yard. Maybe fat sixths?! Ha.)
Once my fabric arrived, I got to work! You can see all the highlights in this reel I made:
I used existing tutorials for some of these, and made the others based on my own previous experiences and sewing know-how — like this little five-pointed stuffed star! You can make it in less than an hour, and you probably already have everything you need in your sewing stash. Case in point: I didn’t have any polyfill, so I took some batting scraps, cut them into small ~1/2″ squares, and used that to stuff my ornament.
You can grab the pattern at the link below! It’s free this month only, and will be for sale in my shop after that.

Here are the other 6, along with links to the tutorials I used where applicable. I really love how each ornament is unique, but share the same fabric and palette and star theme. I chose a star theme specifically because it can be used for holidays but also works any other time of year! You could make a great garland of stars from non-holiday fabrics, and display it year-round.
Happy quilting and ornament-making!
