The last couple months have been quiet on the sewing front as my family and I wrapped up a fun summer, the kids went back to school, and allll the activities started up again. Throw in some funky health stuff (all resolving, I think) and a busy stretch at work and whew!
After finishing everything on my spring list, I had high hopes for summer, but alas it was not to be. I didn’t even write a blog post between July and last week, which is probably the longest I’ve gone without blogging in…20 years?! And that’s not even an exaggeration.
Nonetheless, I continue to find value in this quarterly goal-setting practice, even when life gets in the way.
First, a wrap-up of my goals for summer:
- Participate in Quilt2024. Done! If you missed it, I will be releasing my postcard mini-workshop as an on-demand video in January.
- Design and start two QuiltCon entries. I’ve entered one quilt that I finished in the spring (still need to post that one here), and have a quilt top completed for the fabric challenge.
- Finish at least 2 more UFOs. Not done.
- Design and create a stitchable pantograph. Not done.
- Make Quilts Unscripted bee blocks each month. I made my July block, and I was the queen for September, but I still need to make August. (Eek.)
- Also done:
- Made a pin banner for my sister.
- Stitched a needlepoint canvas that I think I’ll turn into a pouch.
- Made a quilt for a collaboration with Spoonflower. (More on this soon.)
Looking ahead, I know that fall is always full of activities even before I account for the holidays, so I’m purposefully keeping my list fairly short. I have an inkling that I miiiight try to put together one more QuiltCon entry, but I’m not going to let myself think too much about that until I finish my fabric challenge entry.
Here are my goals for October-December:
- Finish QuiltCon fabric challenge quilt and enter by 10/31. The backing is already loaded on my longarm, and I’ll be diving into quilting this week.
- A second Spoonflower collaboration. This one is holiday-themed. More to come!
- Make Quilts Unscripted bee blocks each month. October and November, plus August. (We take December off.)
- Design and create a stitchable pantograph. Carrying over this uncompleted goal from summer!
Wish me luck!
