Hooray, it’s another summer finish! This is the Spinoff pattern by Daisy Aschehoug of Warm Folk. I made it back in January 2021 during a Gulf Coast MQG workshop with Daisy. The design is a fun way to practice curves and quarter circle blocks, and the top comes together really fast. I was able to finish the whole top on the day of the workshop, and it’s been patiently sitting in my “to quilt” pile ever since.

My fabric choices for this one were entirely dictated by what I was able to pull from my stash! At the time, my stash was mostly fat quarters, and I didn’t have much yardage, so these were the fabrics I was able to find in sufficient quantities that worked well enough. And I liked the result! (My stash is still mostly FQs thanks to several early quilting years where I loved FQ bundles, but I’ve changed my fabric buying habits and generally go for 1/2 yard or more these days.)

I quilted this on my longarm with an edge-to-edge pantograph, and I’m still loving the novelty of computerized quilting. It’s so fun and makes quick work of a smaller quilt like this one. I continue to really dial in my tension settings on my machine and was very happy with my results.

The stats:
- Quilt measures 44″ x 44″.
- Pattern is Spinoff by Daisy Aschehoug.
- Fabrics are a variety of prints pulled from my stash.
- Backing is a Ruby Star Society wideback by Melody Miller.
- Binding is an older Riley Blake print.
- Batting is Quilters Dream Select White Poly.
- Pieced with Aurifil 50 wt thread in #2600 (Dove).
- Quilted on my APQS Millie with Glide thread in Linen.
- Pantograph is Squared Rounded from Urban Elementz.

I love the wideback you used for the backing. It looks like you are really getting to know your longarm – the pantograph looks fantastic!
Thanks! I love the backing print too. I have used a few of the Ruby Star widebacks and I *mostly* love them. They’re printed on cotton sateen so they feel silky and lovely, but I do notice that the needle holes are more visible — sort of like what happens digitally printed fabrics, although not as severe. It hasn’t stopped me from using the sateen, but it’s something I noticed!
