I’ve been on a high for the last couple weeks in terms of “making stuff” energy — which was unexpected but a nice surprise!
Last night I officially finished my cozy quilt, which I made as part of the Cozy Sew Along with Alison Glass. The photo above is one portion, and I’ll write a longer post about it once I get a few good photos. I bought the knit fabric from Alison’s shop, and pulled fat quarters from my stash for the middle layer. I really enjoyed the process of hand stitching, and cutting away the top layer for the reverse applique was very satisfying!
I’m nothing if not a joiner, so last weekend I jumped onto the Ruby Star Society “Anti-Sewcial Sewalong” using their free pattern for fabric bunting. I’ve made all my flags and fused the letters; now I need to decide whether to stitch them down or just let the fusible be enough. (I’m leaning towards the latter — it’s not like this will be washed.) The finished bunting will say “Made of Star Stuff,” from a favorite Carl Sagan quote.
I also jumped into my own Pantone Quilt Challenge last week and stitched up a peach mini quilt. The design is an optical illusion by Akiyoshi Kitaoka. I’ve seen this illusion on my computer screen and in painted format, but I was curious to see if I could create it in fabric and thread. The answer? Sort of! It depends on the lighting conditions and how flat the mini is hanging. Which is interesting!
I’m also continuing my 100 days of crochet, albeit at fairly slow pace. The piece I’m holding above is the second of two larger squares that I’ve made, and whew, larger squares take more time! (Which somehow did not occur to me until I dove in.)
I also made binding for a quilt that’s been sitting around since last fall — with luck, I’ll get that one finished this weekend. And this week I finally started making significant process on writing my Alpha pattern — hooray! Hoping to get that released by mid-late May.
We’ll see how long this flurry of activity lasts, but for now it’s been great!

I look forward to getting more details on your cozy quilt, and I can see the optical illusion in your Pantone challenge quilt!

Love the peach quilt! The illusion is definitely visible to me!
