But first…let’s meet this year’s judges!

Judges
We’re thrilled to introduce three accomplished quilters as our panel of judges for the 2024 challenge: Libs Elliott, Yvonne Fuchs, and Brandy Maslowski!

Libs Elliott is a fabric designer for Andover Fabrics, a quilt pattern designer, and a quilting instructor who brings folks together in her online community, the SEW SQUAD. Libs explores the intersection of technology and traditional craft by using generative design to build handmade quilts, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, design history, and future-focused applications are all reflected in her work. She loves designing quilt patterns that will challenge quilters, and helping you add new skills to your quilty toolbox.

Yvonne Fuchs (Quilting Jetgirl) is a former aerospace engineer turned modern quilter, quilt pattern designer, and technical editor. She was introduced to quilting in high school by her paternal grandmother and she has been quilting for almost 30 years. Yvonne believes that the secret to success is to show up, try, learn, modify, and repeat. Yvonne’s goal is to help bridge gaps so you can achieve new skills. With a bit of scaffolding and practice, it’s amazing how much we can learn and grow.

Brandy Maslowski is a quiltmaker, textile artist, teacher, speaker, author and NACQJ certified quilt judge. She has curated a portfolio of workshops from modern improv to textile art which aim to nudge the quilter into their own personal creative zone. She is the founder and host of the Quilter on Fire Podcast and can be found everywhere online as the Quilter on Fire.
Week 1 – Inspiration
If you are following our timeline, this week is all about inspiration! We know quilters draw inspiration from wide and varied sources — from nature to architecture to home decor and more. What’s making the wheels in your own head start spinning these days, and how does Peach Fuzz fit in? We’d love to hear about the inspiration for your project and any design considerations you’re thinking about.
