LE03 – Lessons from a Challenge Enthusiast
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22 * 11:30
I’m excited to be back with another lecture after my first in 2022! Quilt design challenges have a unique way of getting creative juices flowing! From QuiltCon’s annual fabric and community outreach challenges to the color of the year, there’s something for everyone, and I have trouble saying “no” to any of them. In this lecture, I will share my approach to challenges, tips and tricks for dealing with everything from tricky fabric to tight deadlines, and how lessons learned from challenges can improve one’s whole quilting practice.
Big news! The MQG recently announced that for the first time, there will be an option to purchase a lecture streaming pass to watch QuiltCon lectures from home!! More to come on this option later in the year!
DES006 – Make that Quilt!
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22 * 6:00-9:00
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24 * 6:00-9:00
This is a new class that I’m really excited about! Want to create an original quilt design, but don’t know where to start? Have a sketch but can’t figure out how to make it reality? This workshop is the place for you! This workshop will discuss sources of inspiration and how to translate them into modern quilt designs, different construction methods and techniques, and basic quilt math concepts such as how to estimate required fabric yardage. This is intended to be a working session — students should come prepared with inspiration photos, sketches, and questions to discuss with me and fellow classmates.
Note: This is a no-sew workshop. This workshop is about how to translate your design concept(s) into a sewable quilt top for personal use; it is not about professional pattern writing or sales.
I hope to see you in February!
