I began working as a technical editor for quilt patterns in late 2017 and have slowly built a niche in this area of the quilting industry. Around the same time, I began connecting with Yvonne Fuchs, a fellow engineer, quilter, and tech editor. We have chatted many times over the years about tech editing, referred clients back and forth, and Yvonne tech edits my patterns. (Pro tip: it’s rarely effective to try to tech edit your own pattern!)
Yvonne and I often answer questions about tech editing — everything from what “tech editing” really means to how we began working in this area. So I’m happy to announce that we will be teaming up for Quilt Pattern Technical Editing 101!
This live panel discussion will include a discussion of the skills needed to be a good tech editor, pitfalls we have each run into, and frequently asked questions. We’ll also allow plenty of time at the end for live Q&A.
