It’s been a week since I got back from Atlanta and I’m still recovering from covid. I feel a lot better than I did last Wednesday-Friday but I’m definitely not back to 100% either — this is the second time I’ve had covid as far as I know, and it really kicked my butt this time. I haven’t had a fever, but the body aches and fatigue have kept me laying low for the last week.
Things I am currently excited about:
- The return of Formula 1! Yesterday’s inaugural 2023 race certainly seems to point to Verstappen completely dominating again (sigh) but it looks like there could be a legitimate battle for second, and that would be interesting. We’ll see how things develop. (I am reminded that after the first race last year, it looked like Ferrari had the edge, and we know how that turned out…)
- The fabric pull above, which is for Sarah Goer’s February Quilts Unscripted prompt. (Yes, I’m late with my blocks but got a reprieve due to QuiltCon + covid.) I really love the color guidance she gave us, and will totally be saving this palette for future inspiration.
- The upcoming 5th grade trip to DC. I’m going, so I’ve got 6 days for my body to flush this covid crap.
- My birthday later this month! As a present to myself, I bought us tickets to the Astros’ home opener on March 30. The prices for opening day were kind of ridiculous, but I know we’ll enjoy the game.
- My quilted shoes, which were so much fun to wear at QuiltCon! One of the most frequently asked questions I’ve gotten is whether they are comfortable, and I’m happy to answer than with a resounding “yes!” I wore them for 3 of the 4 full days I spent walking around the show floor and teaching workshops, and my feet felt great. (I was also relieved to find that no eyelots popped out and no stitching came undone, ha!)
- Spring weather — which was beautiful this past weekend, and I’m only bummed that I wasn’t able to fully take advantage of it. Hopefully we have a few more weekends of good weather in store before it starts to heat up.
