With QuiltCon 2023 coming up next week…I am finally getting around to posting highlights from QuiltCon 2022 last February?!? Yes, it’s true. Better late than never.
So. QuiltCon! I went! And I am finally writing a post about it because I want it on the blog for posterity. The 2022 event was in Phoenix, and after the virtual event in 2021, I was so, so excited to be back in person and get to see all my friends. And that really is the number 1 reason I go at this point — to see my friends!
That said, I love the quilt show itself as well. Last year I was lucky enough to have 5 quilts juried into the show, and was thrilled to find out during the awards ceremony that two of them were awarded ribbons. Unscripted won 1st place in the Group/Bee Quilts category and Game Night won 3rd place in the Fabric Challenge category. My kids each had a quilt juried into the show as well, so all in all our family was represented with 7 quilts — pretty amazing, and a feat that will very likely never be repeated.
I also was a member of the QuiltCon faculty for the first time last year, with one workshop and one lecture. I really enjoyed adding that to my QuiltCon repertoire, and am looking forward to teaching again in Atlanta next week.
But the main reason I am writing this post — even a year delayed — is to share some of my favorite quilts from the show! I’ve done this several times (for both QuiltCon and the International Quilt Festival), and it’s always fun to be able to look back on previous years and see what caught my eye.
Enjoy the photos! I’m super excited for QuiltCon 2023!

Lovely to get to see some of the quilts from last year and I look forward to living vicariously through everyone who attends this year so I can see parts of the show. 🙂

Hopefully I can get a recap of this year’s show posted in a bit more timely manner! 😆

Also — I’m sorry I won’t get to see you there this year!

Thank you! I’ve seen some of these quilts online already, but many were new to me. I had planned to attend QuiltCon 2018 because Pasadena is only an hours drive away until I was diagnosed with pneumonia. Things came up in 2019 and a broken toe in 2020 kept me away. Still not comfortable being around groups of people post-Covid, so not attending this year. Please post 2023 when it fits into your busy schedule.

I hope you’ll be able to attend in 2024! It’s definitely worth experiencing at least once.
