2023 whaaaaaat?? I’m optimistic that I can move beyond the “meh” feeling that affected my creativity last year and find my sew-jo again — and in a healthy, sustainable way.
January should provide the opportunity for a solid jump into the year, and February will be all about prepping for and attending QuiltCon. And by the time March rolls around, I’ll have a good idea how things are going!

First, a wrap-up of my goals for fall:
- Secret sewing project. Done! This was my new Moon Lights quilt and pattern.
- Make a pillow for a book blog hop. Done!
- Finish my cross stitch project. Done!
- Finish 1 more item on my 2022 UFO Challenge list. Nope.
- Take a Procreate class. Nope.
- Make Quilts Unscripted Bee Blocks each month. Done!
- Make the HMQG BOM block each month. Done!
- Also done:
- Helped each of my girls make a quilt!
- Added a hanging sleeve to complete the Gulf Coast MQG community outreach quilt.
- Made a bag for the HMQG holiday swap.
- Made a block for the 2022 food quilt.
- Enjoyed the annual International Quilt Festival.
- Taught in-person workshops in Brenham and Lufkin.
- A healthy amount of tech editing.

And here’s what I plan to work on from January-March, keeping my yearly goals in mind….
- Make pajama pants for my family. I impulse bought a deeply discounted bolt of Astros-themed flannel last week…so I gotta come through. Ha.
- Plan (and kick off ?) this year’s Pantone Quilt Challenge with my friend Elizabeth.
- Release 1 pattern and make the cover quilt. This will be a revamp/update/re-release of Diamond Stripe, which I haven’t offered since Craftsy shut down.
- Finish HMQG 2022 Block-of-the-Month. My blocks are complete; time to sew them into a top, quilt, and finish it.
- Prep for and teach QuiltCon workshops — and of course enjoy the show itself!
- Start a 100 day project. The “official” project kicks off sometime in February and I will very likely join that one. I haven’t chosen a project yet…but I’m thinking it might not be sewing this year.
- Make Quilts Unscripted Bee Blocks each month.
Up, up, and away I go!
Would love the instructions or pattern for – food pantry block and pajama pants (would like to make but never have)
Writing up a quick pattern for the food block is on my to-do list. For the pajama pants, I bought a Simplicity pattern — definitely not something I drafted myself!
