I’m happy to introduce you to Moon Lights, my latest quilt pattern! Find it in my shop now!
Moon Lights uses simple shapes to form floating lanterns and glowing orbs. The shapes and color palette of this design reminded me of the floating lanterns in Disney’s “Tangled.” Rapunzel was seeking adventure, but I found that making this quilt was the opposite – as I stitched it together in October, it was a moment of calm in the middle of a hectic season. I hope it can provide those moments for you as well.
The pattern includes full cutting and sewing instructions, along with step-by-step diagrams, coloring sheets, and cutting templates for four different quilt sizes — crib (36″ x 48″), throw (54″ x 60″), twin (72″ x 84″) and queen (96″ x 96″).
There are also two different options for fabric choice and placement. With the multicolor option, you can choose 4 different color groupings for the lanterns and lights as shown in the quilt I made. But there’s also a single color option if you want to simplify and use fewer fabrics!
This is an intermediate level pattern! Familiarity with curved piecing, using cutting templates, sewing bias edges, and general quilting techniques is definitely helpful. But that said — most confident beginners can also find success with this pattern if they make a practice block or two to get the hang of the techniques.
I hope you enjoy this pattern and I’d love to see your version!
