Registration for QuiltCon 2023 opens TOMORROW at 9:00 am Central to current Modern Quilt Guild members! The event will be held in Atlanta from February 23-26 and I am thrilled to return as a faculty member. I’ll be teaching two different workshops, and would LOVE to see you there.
PIE005 – Happy Mail: Quilted Fabric Postcards
Friday, February 24 * 9:00-12:00
I’m excited to be teaching my popular fabric postcards workshop again! Last year it sold out within a couple hours, so if you’re hoping to get into it for 2023 make sure you’re ready as soon as registration opens. These tiny pieces are a great way to use scraps, try new techniques, and experiment with color and thread to ultimately bring smiles to family and friends around the globe.
I’ll cover how to make the postcards, go over different material options and finishing techniques (with plenty of samples so you can see and feel the differences), and share tons of tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. You can expect to leave the class with at least 1-2 finished postcards, ready to mail!
Note: I’ll be offering postcard kits for purchase that contain most of the materials needed to make one postcard, such as interfacing, batting, and backing. These will be available later this fall.
FPP008 – Spiraling Triangles
Friday, February 24 * 1:30-4:30
Saturday, February 25 * 6:00-9:00
Spiraling Triangles is a foundation paper piecing pattern that’s great for both beginners (because it’s simple) and more advanced piecers (because you learn how to manage large templates). It also exercises those color and fabric selection skills!
You can choose between two layout options to make either a 15″ x 18″ or 18″ square mini quilt, and select fabrics to highlight the triangle structure or create three swirling spirals.
Note 1: There are TWO sessions of this workshop — one on Friday afternoon and one on Saturday evening — so make sure you choose your preferred time slot where registering!
Note 2: You will be required to pay a $12 materials fee for this class which covers the pattern and 2 copies of each template (4 copies total). I will bring the templates to class so you don’t have to make your own copies ahead of time.
I hope to see you in February!
