The year rolls on and I don’t yet have any big finishes to show for it, but I’ve got plans — and even a casual accountability group on Instagram! — to get 2-3 quilts finished by the QuiltCon 2023 deadline (October 31). Three months should theoretically be plenty of time to finish 2-3 quilts. But we shall see!
The first one is an entry for this year’s fabric challenge. This will be my 6th year entering this category and I’m 4-for-5 so far in having my challenge entry juried into the show. Fingers crossed this will be my 5th, but only time will tell. I’m making a crazy kooky mess of wheel/cog/New York Beauty/compass blocks. I started in June, then didn’t make a stitch of progress for all of July. Last week I finally jumped back into it and I think I have some momentum going again.
I made the blocks above for my Quilts Unscripted bee mates in June and July. The ones on the left were inspired by an intricately-decorated Ukrainian egg, while the block on the right was inspired by the idea of “mixing paint.” I’m the queen for August and have requested astronomy-inspired blocks — I can’t wait to see what my beemates come up with!
I’ve continue to work on my cross stitch as well. I even took it with me on our trip to Seattle and made good progress. Last week I finished the red and yellow and started on the blue! Slowly but surely chugging along…
