Last week I finished my Watercolor quilt!
This is my version of Audrey Esarey’s pattern, which I created in April 2021 when the Gulf Coast MQG hosted Audrey for a workshop. I finished the top the same weekend as the workshop and then…tucked it away to finish “later.”

After finishing the quick and easy baby quilt I shared last week, I successfully used that momentum to immediately load this small-ish quilt on my longarm frame. It took bits of time over several days to get it quilted — straight lines always take more time than I expect — but I was happy to get it done.

I finished the edges with a facing, and added a label and hanging sleeve. Last year when I posted the finished quilt top, someone reached out to say they were interested in purchasing my version of this pattern. Thankfully, that person was still interested a year later and I’m happy to report that this quilt is already in transit to its new home!
This is my 3rd UFO challenge finish for 2022. With 3/12 or 25% completed, I’m definitely behind ideal pace…but checking this one off the list did give me a feeling of momentum and I hope to finish a 4th UFO before the end of the month.

The stats:
- Quilt measures 31″ x 31″.
- Color fabrics are 10 shades of Speckled by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Ruby Star Society.
- Backing is a print Carolyn Friedlander for Robert Kaufman.
- Batting is Warm n’ Natural 100% cotton.
- Pieced with Aurifil 50 wt thread in #2600 (dove gray).
- Quilted on my Handi Quilter Avante with Aurifil 50 wt thread in #2024 (white) in the needle and a Fil-Tec Magna-Glide pre-wound bobbin.
That’s awesome that someone was interested in purchasing, let you know, and was ready when the quilt was completed. It’s a beautiful finish!
I’m interested in purchasing a digital copy of the double aster tree skirt pattern the you made a few years ago. Is this possible? Thank you.
Unfortunately that pattern isn’t available anymore. I do have a similar pattern — the Spinning Star Tree Skirt — available in my shop. https://sarahruizquilts.etsy.com
Thanks
