January and early February were extremely hectic on the quilt biz front. I had a bunch of requests for editing and ghostwriting, plus I was prepping for the lecture and workshop that I did at QuiltCon. It was really too much.
After several good conversations with friends at QuiltCon, I came home and immediately set some boundaries on my editing/ghostwriting workload. This will let me 1) have time for my own projects and 2) not be constantly overloaded. I’ve been using my new system for 5 weeks now and it is working really well! Three cheers for that!
So first, a wrap-up of my goals for winter.
- Finish my Embrace The Chaos mini. Done!
- Finish #100daysofsaroystars. I’ve totally psyched myself out with this one and thus have been procrastinating. I know that once I pull it out, I’ll get going again so I just need to force myself to take it off the shelf!
- Start the 100 Day Project. Done!
- Teach at QuiltCon. Done!
- Release 1 pattern. Done! I put together 3 different postcard patterns (printed on postcards, natch) for my QuiltCon class, and they’re available as a 3-pack in my shop.
- Make Quilts Unscripted bee blocks each month. Done!
- VFW project. Done!
- Exquisite Corpse block. Done!
- Also:
- Made a Sew Together bag.
- Started the Houston MQG Block of the Month.
- Reorganized my solid fabric stash.
- Submitted my second article for this year’s MQG Fundamentals. (It will be out soon!)
- Complete a fun frame weaving project from The Crafter’s Box.
- Lots of tech editing and ghostwriting.
Here’s what I’m planning for April-June, keeping my larger yearly goals in mind as I go.
- Finish my 2022 100 day project.
- Finish #100daysofsaroystars. As I said above, I just have to force it off my shelf. I’d like to have it finished in time to meet the IQF show deadline in May.
- Finish my Cupola Views quilt. I have been working on this one for the past week. My next step is figuring out how I want to quilt it! (p.s. The fabric and pattern for this one will be available soon.)
- Finish at least 1 item on my 2022 UFO Challenge list.
- Release 1 new pattern. I hope to have a pattern for Game Night (though possibly under a different name) ready by mid-May.
- Write and submit my third article for MQG Fundamentals.
- Make Quilts Unscripted Bee Blocks each month.
- Make the HMQG BOM block each month.
Off I go!
