The latest MQG Journal was released at the end of January, and I’m happy to share that I’m writing the MQG Fundamentals series this year! Yvonne Fuchs (Quilting Jetgirl) started this series last year with articles about half-square triangles, quarter circle/drunkard’s path blocks, and more. This year I’ll be building on those basics to cover four additional blocks plus two piecing techniques.
To kick off the year, this quarter my article is about half-rectangle triangles. (Note: you must be a Modern Quilt Guild member to access the full article.) I discuss the qualities of HRTs, provide instructions for two different construction methods, and tables of the pieces needed to make the most common 1:2 HRT aspect ratio in several different sizes.
I’m nearly finished with my article for the Q2 journal, which will be released in April.
Enjoy!
