I only posted once in September and seem to be having more and more trouble finding the time and motivation for blog posts. It is what it is. Lots of catch up in store today!
We started off September celebrating Charlotte’s 6th birthday! She is a ball of energy, always up for a game or activity. She loves singing and dancing and making cards and presents for everyone from her friends to the random people at Costco. She legit cracks me up on a regular basis with funny sayings and facial expressions. In short, she is the best 6-year-old I know.
She celebrated her actual birthday at school with her class (and got the crown seen above), and then came home for presents and dinner and cake. A few days later, as with Emma, we had a pool party at the neighborhood pool. I will be strongly encouraging pool parties for both girls’ birthdays from here on out!! Charlotte’s birthday is usually right around the last weekend that our neighborhood pool is open for the year anyway, so it’s kind of an end-of-summer party as well.
Despite the pool closing on Labor Day, we managed to swim every other weekend in September thanks to friends with backyard pools! The pool and cute dogs above belong to some friends in the neighborhood. It was cute watching Charlotte go back and forth from pool to doggie scratches back to pool.
Mid-month, we had a tropical-storm-turned-cat-1-hurricane that closed school for a couple days. The district is usually very conservative with school closures, so I wasn’t surprised that the girls ended up home for a few days. The worst part of the storm came through in the wee hours of the morning and it seems I actually slept through the majority of it! We had a lot of twigs and branches in the yard to pick up, but otherwise no issues, thankfully.
We had a cold run through the family last month too. Emma got it first, and after two negative at-home covid tests two days apart, we finally decided it truly was just a cold. Jose had it a week later, and then a week after that I got it too. It lingered longer than I expected but I finally got past it late last week and am happy to be feeling 100% again.
I visited my office for the first time in 18 months! Honestly, it was not momentous at all. I had to go in to deal with a computer issue, and figured I might as well stop by my office while I was there. Surprise — it looked the same as I left it. *shrug*
In my quilting life, I’ve been doing a ton of computer work — designing and writing and illustrating and editing. But earlier in the month, I made some good progress on other things. I found out Zero Eccentricity was juried into the Pacific International Quilt Festival (yay!) and Emma and I started working on a QuiltCon entry (double yay!). She designed a 24″ square mini quilt and we worked together to piece the background and cut and fuse her shapes to match the sketch she drew. I love her design and will be excited to see it finished.
I’m also working on a quilt using these fantastic letter blocks that my Quilts Unscripted beemates made. I hope to get this one finished by the end of the month so I can enter it in QuiltCon as a group quilt. After that, I think my mom has already claimed it!
Onward to October, plenty of fall fun, and last minute QuiltCon sewing! 😉

The outage of IG/FB yesterday made me realize I should dedicate more time to blog writing. Looks like your month was about like mine–quite busy!
