First, a wrap-up of my goals for spring:
- Finish #100daysofsaroystars. In progress! I finished the blocks on schedule and have a self-imposed deadline of the end of July to finish the quilt top.
- April Aurifil Artisan challenge. Done!
- Finish my My Favorite Things Pathfinder quilt. Done! (See above.)
- Finish my “Not Christmas” quilt. Nope.
- Also done:
- Hand-pieced the Harmony mini quilt. (See below.)
- Made a Spiraling Triangles quilt top (which is basted and waiting for quilting).
- Started another 100 day project.
- Finished a small embroidery project.
- Made a mini quilt (that just needs binding) during the Houston MQG virtual retreat.
- Made a Watercolor quilt top.
- Multiple guild lectures.
- In-person trunk show at a local shop.
- Destashed 10-15% of my total stash, all fabrics and scraps that I likely wouldn’t use anytime soon. It felt good to clear that space!
- So much tech editing!
I’ve been feeling a bit scattered, and like I haven’t accomplished much in the last several months — but then I look at this list and realize I’ve actually done quite a lot! It’s funny how our brains and/or feelings can tell us things that aren’t really true. One of the things I like best about these quarterly goal lists is that they serve as a true, unbiased record of what I did (and sometimes didn’t) do.
Here’s what I’m planning for July-September, keeping my larger yearly goals in mind as I go.
- Finish #100daysofsaroystars. This one is truly becoming a labor of love!
- Finish Spiraling Triangles quilt. It needs to be quilted, but I’m waiting on a thread order before I can start.
- Finish #100DaySummerSewAlong project. This is the new 100 day project I started in June.
- Make a wonky alphabet quilt. I’m in a new improv quilting bee that started in June, and I got to kick things off with the first prompt! I requested “wonky alphabet” blocks and have received most of them.
- Make Quilts Unscripted bee blocks each month. I had my turn to receive blocks, so now I’ll get to make blocks for the “queen” each month. Our July prompt is a summer-inspired one, with blues and yellows!
There will of course be more projects that sneak their way in. I’m already choosing fabric for a Firefly Tote, and I have loose intentions of finishing that “Not Christmas” quilt that’s been on my list for 6 months. We’ll see what else rises to the top of the pile, eh?
