I’m in a bit of a sewing slump at the moment, and have been for most of the year thus far. On the one hand, I recognize that it’s odd to say this when the list below of everything I’ve done in the last 3 months is pretty lengthy. I HAVE been sewing, a lot. Perhaps it’d be more accurate to call it a creativity slump? I’ve been doodling and trying to think of some new projects and patterns and…I got nothin’.
Nonetheless, I forge ahead! I’ve been in slumps before and I know they are always temporary.
First, a wrap-up of my goals for winter:
- Enjoy QuiltCon Together! Done!
- Release Modular Maze and Notes to Self patterns. Modular Maze, yes. Notes to Self, no.
- Quilt 2 banners for the Social Justice Sewing Academy. Done!
- Give lectures to 3 quilt guilds. Done! (And it ended up being 4.)
- Make a mini for the MQG swap. Done!
- Make a quilt for an upcoming fabric collection blog hop. Done!
- Also done:
- Forebatten Butterfly mini quilt.
- Made 5 squares for the Violet Protest.
- Mars quilt.
- Started 100 day project.
- Made a quilt coat.
- Made an entirely hand-pieced wall quilt.
Here’s what I’m planning for April-June, keeping my larger yearly goals in mind as I go.
- Finish #100daysofsaroystars. And then figure out how to puzzle all my blocks together!
- April Aurifil Artisan challenge. I received 5 super colorful Kaffe Fasset prints to use in my project.
- Finish my My Favorite Things Pathfinder quilt. It’s still on my longarm — where it’s been since February (eek).
- Finish my “Not Christmas” quilt. I received blocks from my bee back in November, and need to turn them into a quilt!
…and I think that’s it. It’s a relatively short list for 3 months, but it also reflects the uncertainty I feel right now about what I want to work on next and what direction I want to move in as 2021 continues to evolve. I look forward to seeing what comes up!
