Ah, a Halloween on a Saturday and with a full moon — and covid had to come along and mess things up. Nonetheless, we had a really great Halloween this year!
We started the day with donuts, courtesy of a gift card my mom sent the girls. They had a Halloween-themed donut decorating kit that came with orange and black icing and two kinds of sprinkles that was a fun way to start the day.
Later in the day, we carved pumpkins out on the back patio. The weather was really perfect! It’s always strange to me when I see people carving pumpkins a week before Halloween — ours would totally be rotten and gross if we carved that early! But it was super fun to be able to turn it into an afternoon activity.
I really wasn’t sure how trick-or-treating would go. We had planned to try it, but I had no idea whether there would be any houses offering treats! And while there were definitely fewer houses — and fewer kids — participating, there were fortunately enough to make it worthwhile. Instead of having to ring doorbells, most people had a table or chair set up on their porch with candy to pick from. I think the girls may have actually liked that MORE than having to ring doorbells. Heh.
We were out for about an hour and as you can see, they collected PLENTY of candy. All in all, another successful Halloween!
