The pandemic has been almost entirely bad. And yet somehow, it has been great for my creativity. I have been making things like crazy! I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere, something about making things to calm an anxious mind when everything else feels overwhelming….
…yeah.
Anyway, first, a wrap-up of my goals for summer (plus about a zillion other things I did too):
- Finish my 100+ day project. Done! Or really, done, and also continuing? I finished the first 100 days but because I made a waiting list and kept adding people here and there, I’m up to ~150. My goal was to finish by the end of September, but since I added a few more people after that, it’ll now be October. Within the next two weeks!
- Make a photobook to document my 100+ day project. I have an open project on Chatbooks that I keep adding to, and will print it when I finish the “final” postcard.
- Test a pattern for a quilty friend. Done! (It’s just a top for now, and I haven’t posted it.)
- Make 5 blocks for the Violet Protest. Not done. The deadline for these has been extended to early next year, so this item got pushed down my to-do list for now.
- Republish L Is For… and Triangles at Play patterns. Done for Triangles at Play! Still need to do L Is For.
- Finish my Rainbow Triangles BOM quilt. I didn’t finish it…but I got it quilted!! (See picture below.) And since I’ve been carrying this one on my to-do list for months, that’s pretty exciting. Just need to bind it.
- Also done:
- Completed blocks for the Solid Seven bee each month.
- Finished my Emission Spectrum quilt for the GCMQG curves challenge.
- Stitched this Texas embroidery.
- Made my Hyperspace mini quilt.
- Made my Clair de Lune mini for the HMQG minimalist challenge.
- Took Tara Faughnan’s Color Interaction class and made this Bars quilt top.
- Made my 8-Fold Geometric Rosette wholecloth quilt.
- Completed quite a few tech edits and did a bit of pattern ghostwriting.
Here’s what I’m planning for October-December, keeping my guiding thoughts in mind as I go. (My goal for more sleep, as always, needs improvement.)
- MQG fabric challenge. I signed up in time to receive one of the bundles, so I need to figure out what I’m going to make!
- Secret sewing project. More on this when I can share it!
- Make a tree skirt and pattern. I’ve been meaning to write a new one as a complement to my old Double Aster tree skirt pattern (which I cannot sell due to my contract with Craftsy). I’ve settled on the design and want to have it finished by the end of October.
- Finish my Bars quilt. I’m thinking of hand quilting this one.
- Solid Seven bee blocks. Plus, November is my month as queen bee!
- Make a rainbow bargello quilt. Emma picked this out as something she’d like me to make for her bed.
Off I go to finish the year strong!

I think I’ve been sewing, sewing, sewing because it’s something I can control….
