Today I’m excited to share my latest FREE quilt block pattern as week #6 of Around the Block – US Tour! If you’re participating in the tour, you’ve already visited Massachusetts, Alaska, Washington, California, and Florida…so it’s definitely time to journey south to the Lone Star state.
I’ve lived in Texas for more than 20 years, and my husband’s family has been in the state for generations — we learned a few years ago that our daughters are 5th generation Texans!
There are many images and symbols associated with this diverse state, but one of my favorites — and one that is very well known — is the Texas bluebonnet. You can find these flowers in fields and gardens and even along roads and bayous every spring, and they always make me smile. I hope this bluebonnet quilt block will bring you a smile as well!
While you’re here, I would love to have you join my newsletter mailing list. I send one email at the beginning of each month with shop news, sneak peeks of works-in-progress, and links to fun things I’ve found elsewhere. All subscribers receive a free pattern too!

This free Texas Bluebonnet pattern is foundation paper pieced and makes a 6″ finished quilt block. You will need several strips of blue fabrics, plus a bit of green and your choice of background fabric. Make it scrappy or solid — it looks great either way!

While I use Dropbox. I would rather direct download to my computer. How can I do this?
Sarah says
If you follow the dropbox link, at top right you should see “sign in”, “sign up”, and a down arrow. Click that arrow button to download it directly.
Alternately, you can also save it to your own dropbox, and then download directly to your computer from there.
