Emma turned 8 last week! We didn’t have a party this year thanks to covid, but I think she is aging out of the “big group party” phase anyway. She was totally unphased, and had laid out a detailed plan for her day:
Charlotte stayed home from daycare (at both her request and Emma’s), and though Jose and I had a few work meetings during the middle of the day, we ended up doing almost everything on the birthday list!
Around 3:00, Emma came up to me and said “Mom, I almost forgot it was my birthday because it feels like a normal day.” She seemed a bit sad at the moment. That’s when I said “oh really? Well does THIS feel like a normal day?” and whipped out a surprise pinata. Total win.
What a fun day. Emma continues to grow and learn and be the very best 8-year-old I know.

I love her daily schedule. “See what’s different” This looks like a pretty fun day for any age!

“See what’s different” was in reference to the presents that would surely be waiting for her when she came downstairs!! Ha.

8, where did the time go?!

I am flattered by the thought that I made that cake when it was entirely HEB.
