We’re already 2 months into 2020 and this year feels crazy. I’ve been fighting some low level anxiety this week for reasons that I can’t quite pinpoint…although I can guess. Life is full already with work and family. Then add in that politics are a mess; I’m already tired of the election and it’s barely March. And now coronoavirus is going to get us all sick; wash your hands, don’t touch your face, and be prepared in case schools close and everyone has to lay low for a while.
Even our upcoming spring break trip is somehow stressing me out, which is ridiculous because it’s a VACATION.
#firstworldproblems. I absolutely know this.
Big things happening in March:
+ Spring break! We’re doing a family trip to the Florida panhandle. Our spring break is so early that ocean swimming may still be too chilly, but there’s a heated pool and plenty of other fun things to do. The girls are excited to build sand castles and find an ice cream store.
+ Rodeo. A can’t-miss annual Houston event. Ironically enough, the girls have never been to the actual RODEO part of the rodeo, so this year we’re finally going to do that too. (In addition to the livestock show, carnival, and copious amounts of fried food.)
+ My birthday! I usually try to take the day off work, but probably won’t be able to this year. Nevertheless, I will make it a fun day!
+ Aliens vs. Astronauts 5K on March 28. This is the goal race for my current round of Couch to 5K.
March goals:
+ Finish Couch to 5K. My target race is on the 28th!
+ Get a quote for lights/ceiling fan upgrades in the house. Carrying this one over from last month, since I didn’t get it done.
+ Finish and file our taxes. I usually have this done by now, but have been putting it off this year because it somehow seems onerous. But I don’t want to wait until the last minute.
+ Declutter my sewing room. In particular, there’s a pile of stuff in front of the window and a pile of stuff next to my desk. I want them both gone by the end of the month.
Let’s go, March!

I feel like the year is now just taking off and I’m still stuck in January. I get you on the anxiety.

This made me nod my head — the year seems to be accelerating and I’m not keeping up!

Last year when I went with the Mendecks, we found one of the side arenas. It was amazing. (Every time I go, I discover something new, how did it take a decade to find the birthing center, for instance?) I had gone in once before to see cutting. This time, we saw people literally barrel racing WHILE shooting balloons. This is a thing. Find the side stages. I miss the rodeo!
Sarah says
You didn’t find the birthing center because you weren’t going with kids! Ha. That’s when I discovered it — since it’s over by all the kid-friendly stuff!
