February started off with a weekend of perfect weather, which makes me feel fantastic — like anything is possible.
Big things happening in February:
+ Valentine’s Day. I never considered this a big deal until I had kids, but it’s one of the girls’ favorite holidays. (Although to be honest, pretty much all holidays are favorite holidays for them.)
+ QuiltCon! I’m going solo again this year, and am excited to road trip to Austin. I have 2 quilts in the show plus my guild’s charity quilt, I’m signed up for a couple classes and volunteer shifts, and am looking forward to quilty fun with friends.
+ Visit from Momo. My mother-in-law is coming for about a week and a half. We fly her up occasionally, and this time she’ll also be around to help Jose for the few days that I’m at QuiltCon. We always have a nice time with her in town!
February goals:
+ Couch to 5K. I signed up for a 5K at the end of March. It’ll be my first one in a while, and I haven’t been running seriously in a long time so this will be a good way to prepare.
+ Figure out spring vacation plans. We want to do something as a family for spring break in March, and then Jose and I want to do a kid-free trip in April or May. I need to get on this asap, especially the spring break one.
+ Get a quote for lights/ceiling fan upgrades in the house. This is something we’ve been wanting to do for a while, but I haven’t taken the time to actually make any calls. If I get on it quickly, we might even be able to have the work done by the end of the month.
+ Finish my Broken Zig Zag pattern revamp. I only got halfway done with this in January, so putting it back on the list.
+ Maintain developing good habits! I really embraced 2020 as an opportunity to make some changes, like no-kidding focusing on better sleep and overall health. I was very successful for the first 3/4 of January, but the last week was a bit all over the place. I don’t want to let one off week impact my overall progress.

May I make a pitch for Big Ass Fans Haiku. They are expensive (though we bought one used) and we love. They are pretty (look like airplane propellers), have this cool “woosh” mode where they create almost a breeze, and are also connected to wifi and voice activated with alexa.

(That said, we have two of them, one without a light because its in a room with a ton of recessed lighting; the other is in our bedroom and i find the light rather dim.)

Hmm, I like that one but I’m not sure it really fits the style of our house. I wish they had something that was more of a hybrid between that and the super traditional stuff we have now!
