Shake and Bake Quilt Pattern

I designed this quilt in October when I need a fun, fast, and fat quarter-friendly pattern to use for a Halloween quilt. There are so many things you can do with this simple block and your favorite fat quarter bundle!

The pattern includes instructions for 5 different quilt sizes — baby, throw, twin, queen, and king — as well as a note on how to figure out fabric requirements for any other size you may want. The larger sizes are also perfectly suited for 1/2 yard or 1 yard cuts.

I had several wonderful testers put their spin on this pattern over the last couple weeks.

Sarah (@sarahgoerquilts, Sarah Goer Quilts blog) made this bright and happy version with fabrics by Sassafras Lane.

Colette (@rcwfam) made this lovely baby quilt top in my favorite color palette! Can’t go wrong with blues and greens, right?

Joanne (@turtlequilterjo) made this striking black, white, and red version using only 6 fat quarters. Fun side note: Joanne also tested my Intertwined quilt pattern a couple year ago!

Elizabeth (@elizabethkray) made this brilliant quilt using Air Flow fabric by Sasha Ignatiadou for Ruby Star Society. This fabric isn’t available until next spring, but it looks amazing!

Denise (@dmking52512) made quite a few rainbow-y blocks, and also showed off an alternate block layout. There are a couple more block layout ideas included in the pattern too!

Yeechi (@snailmade) is off to a great start with this yellow, green, blue, and gray palette. I love how this pattern works so well with so many different prints!
