QuiltCon entry notifications went out late Tuesday night and I was thrilled to learn that two of my four entries have been juried into the show!
Beauty Burst is in the Piecing category, and Mini Maze is in the Stripes challenge. I made both of these quilts back in the spring and summer, and I entered them so early — at the end of July — that their entry numbers were #42 and #43 out of at least ~1600 total. Interesting! (But for the record, I don’t think entry timing has any bearing on whether a quilt is accepted; in previous years my acceptances were entered in the last week.)
Palmdale and Shattered were both turned down. I must admit feeling some disappointment that Palmdale didn’t make it into the show. I feel like it highlighted the challenge fabrics well and was a strong modern design. I actually thought it had the best chance of all my entries of getting in! Shows how much I know!
I certainly don’t envy the job that the jury faces each year. There is a virtual parade of truly stunning quilts on the #quiltconreject hashtag right now, highlighting the fact that not getting a quilt into a show does NOT mean it isn’t a fantastic quilt. I plan to enter Palmdale somewhere else and will hope for better luck then!
If you got quilts accepted this year: congratulations! It’s so exciting!
And if you didn’t: Keep designing. Keep sewing. And keep making awesome stuff.
p.s. I’m doing a 31 day blogging challenge.

It looks like several of your “readers” are out of date (Feeddemon…) – can we just subscribe on email?

Hey Katy! I don’t think FeedDemon has been updated since 2013, so it may be the feed reader that’s causing the issue. I use Feedly and it’s still showing up ok. That said, I will try to get an email plugin working! 🙂
